Dōngzhì Festival

We will celebrate Dōngzhì Festival or Winter Solstice Festival tonight. Dōngzhì Festival is one of the most important festivals celebrated by the Chinese and other East Asians during the Dongzhi solar term on or around December 22 when sunshine is weakest and daylight shortest.

I accompany my mum to the market this morning to buy some ingredients for making the Tangyuan or balls of glutinous rice which symbolize reunion and foods for tonight's dinner. Tangyuan for Foochow are as below:

The balls are coated with groundnuts powder and sugar. (Created by my mum. Mum used groundnuts powder because it tasted delicious than others powder) For more information, you can refer to http://lifeislikethat.com/

Are these 白玉?
I never saw it coated with nuts!!!
How do you eat them?!
Usually, we eat 白玉 in a syrup or kind of sweet redbean broth.

Hi Ochi,
my mum coated it with nuts, hehe. You cook it first before coated with nuts, and just eat it like that.
